Learning music production without burning out wasn’t something I figured out quickly — it took years of mistakes, pauses, and resets.
To be fair, I have burned out multiple times.
But right now, I feel like I’m finally moving at a pace that’s sustainable — more consistent, more grounded, and honestly more enjoyable.
Who am I?
I’m an artist, producer, mentor, creator, and content creator. And this blog is kind of my way of sharing the journey — the messy parts, the lessons, and the things I wish someone had told me earlier.
Truth be told, I’m creating this blog to improve my website reach. But more importantly, I want to connect with other producers who might be out there looking for guidance, clarity, or just reassurance that they’re not alone.
If that’s you, follow along. Let’s get after it.
Where It All Started
My journey started as an artist and producer back in 2015.
To be fair though, I was creating music long before that.
I took guitar lessons growing up and absolutely loved playing guitar. I was also in band all throughout middle school and high school — I played percussion.
(And honestly, my favorite instruments were probably the timpani or the marimba.)
In 2015, I finally got my first DAW — a digital audio workstation. It came with a Razer Blade laptop that my parents gifted me for college. I only picked that laptop because it came with a version of FL Studio.
At the time, I had no idea that decision was going to change my life forever.
I was studying something totally unrelated to music production in college. Music was just something I did on the side — making beats, watching YouTube tutorials, learning as much as I could. Most of that learning came from creators like Busy Works Beats, and I was mostly trying to make hip-hop beats and figure out how this whole thing worked.
I met some people in college who were also making music, but it wasn’t super serious. It was just… fun.
Discovering Electronic Music
In 2017, I moved to Chico, California for a college exchange program. One of my friends — who was also my roommate — was a music producer making electronic music.
That’s when everything really shifted.
I was still in college, still just having fun, but we started going to raves. And I remember thinking, damn… this shit is awesome. Like, this is how I want to spend my life.
At the time, I didn’t fully realize where this was going. But that’s when I fell in love with the scene.
In 2018, I was still in college, going to music festivals, getting inspired by main stage acts. Creativity wasn’t really a priority yet, and honestly I wasn’t that serious about producing.
But in 2019, I saw Illenium perform live at The Sylvee in Madison, and that show genuinely changed my life. That was a turning point.
Getting Closer to the Industry
In 2020, I started promoting events in Minneapolis with SIMshows, one of the biggest electronic music promoters in the area. I helped with their website too, and I just loved being around the scene and feeling connected to it.
Then in 2021, I landed a job at my dream company — Apple — in Culver City, Los Angeles.
For the first time, I was actually making money. Which meant… I could finally buy music plugins. That part was amazing.
But I still wasn’t releasing music. I wasn’t taking it fully seriously yet. I was making beats, remixes, bootlegs — all fun and games — but nothing really intentional.
The Shift
In 2023 and 2024, things finally changed.
After years of trying to figure everything out on my own, I joined an online music production program and found a mentor. I also studied at IO Music Academy in Los Angeles.
At that point, I had quit my corporate job at Apple. I was like, fuck it — I’m going all in on music.
I released my first song ever, “Emotinos,” and got some really solid feedback. But even then, it was still a struggle.
The biggest thing that changed my approach to music production wasn’t a plugin, a DAW, or a shortcut.
It was mentorship.
It was finally seeing how this is actually done.
